I have express a little tribute, affection, and reflection for the late Kirk Douglas, who died today at the ripe old age of 103(!) Besides being Hollywood royalty and Spartacus, Kirk Douglas starred in one of my all-time personal favorite movies, 1956’s “Lust for Life” where he portrayed Vincent van Gogh. There have been over ten movies made about van Gogh, and this one still is the most passionate, intense, empathetic, and emotional of them all. It is also the greatest exploration and expression of WHY one becomes an artist and why one MUST make art. Here’s to you, Mr. Douglas, and I deeply thank you for what your movies have meant to me over my life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGG_QJjnRbA
